Mobile Repair Work

Recent Repairs — What We Fix On-Site

An honest breakdown of the repair categories we handle at the roadside and in the driveway across Summerville, Charleston and the surrounding Lowcountry — and what we document on every job.

Why This Page Does Not List Customer Jobs

A lot of repair websites fill a page like this with invented case studies — a vehicle, a town, a dramatic fix, a glowing quote. We are not going to do that. Publishing fabricated jobs would tell you nothing true about the work, and customer vehicle details are not ours to publish casually.

What is genuinely useful is knowing what a mobile mechanic can and cannot resolve where your vehicle sits, and what you should expect to receive when the work is done. That is what this page covers. Real, verified job examples will be published here only as customers agree to have their repairs documented.

If you want to read what customers have actually said, the reviews page is the right place for that.

The Work We Handle On-Site

These are the categories that make up the bulk of mobile repair calls in the Lowcountry. Each links to a full service page with more detail.

No-Start & Charging

Batteries, starters, alternators and the connections between them. The most common single reason we get called, and the one most often misdiagnosed — a failing alternator will kill a brand-new battery in days.

  • Battery load and state-of-charge testing
  • Charging-system output testing
  • Starter draw and no-crank diagnosis
  • Corroded terminals, grounds and cable ends

Check-Engine & Drivability

A stored code names a circuit or a symptom, not a broken part. Diagnosis means reading live data and testing the circuit before anything is replaced.

  • Full scan-tool code retrieval and freeze-frame review
  • Live sensor data under load
  • Misfire, rough-idle and stalling diagnosis
  • Emissions-readiness and pending-code checks

Brakes

The highest-volume repair we perform. Lowcountry traffic is stop-and-go, and brake pads wear by application rather than by odometer reading.

  • Pad and rotor replacement
  • Caliper and slide-pin service
  • Brake-noise and pulsation diagnosis
  • Corroded hardware — routine on coastal vehicles

Cooling & Overheating

Summer heat plus idling traffic is the combination that finds every marginal cooling component.

  • Coolant leak location
  • Thermostat and hose replacement
  • Radiator and water-pump work
  • Overheating diagnosis

Air Conditioning

A/C that works at speed and quits at a red light is a specific complaint with specific causes. Diagnosis comes before any refrigerant goes in.

  • Performance and pressure testing
  • Leak investigation
  • Compressor and clutch diagnosis
  • Blower and airflow faults

Maintenance & Wear Items

Scheduled work that keeps a commuter vehicle out of the breakdown category in the first place.

  • Spark plugs and ignition components
  • Belts and hoses
  • Filters and fluid service
  • Transmission fluid service

Suspension, Steering & Fuel

Noise, clunk and handling complaints, plus fuel-delivery faults that show up as rough running or a crank-no-start.

  • Clunk, knock and noise diagnosis
  • Steering and front-end component wear
  • Fuel pump and delivery testing
  • Drivability investigation

Pre-Purchase Inspections

Performed wherever the seller has the car. On coastal vehicles the undercarriage matters more than the paint.

  • Undercarriage and corrosion assessment
  • Scan for stored and pending codes
  • Fluid, belt, hose and brake condition
  • Road-test observations where possible

What Gets Recorded on Every Job

Whether the visit is a battery swap or a multi-hour diagnostic, the same details are captured so you have a record of what was actually done:

  • The reported symptom, in the customer’s own words
  • What was tested, and what those tests showed
  • The diagnosis, and the reasoning behind it
  • Parts installed, including brand and part number where applicable
  • Work performed and anything deferred
  • Any additional issues found and flagged for later
  • Anything found that needs a shop, a lift or specialist equipment

That last point matters. Not every repair belongs in a driveway — internal engine work, most transmission replacement, tire mounting and anything requiring a vehicle lift or alignment rack are shop jobs. Being told that plainly is more useful than a mechanic attempting it anyway.

From Phone Call to Finished Repair

  • You call or text — describe the symptom, the vehicle, and where it is parked.
  • We confirm it is workable — location access, level ground and safe working room all matter.
  • Diagnosis first — testing before parts, every time. Guessing at parts is what makes repairs expensive.
  • You approve the work — you hear what was found and what it needs before anything is replaced.
  • Repair on-site — completed where the vehicle sits, wherever that is possible.
  • Written record — what was tested, found, replaced and deferred.
